DUSHANBE, January 29, 2010, Asia-Plus  — An enlarged meeting of the Tajik Cabinet to review the results of the past year’s work has opened in Dushanbe today.  Heads of all ministries and organizations are reporting on the results of work carried out in 2009.

According to presidential press service, speaking at the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon noted that 701 million somoni (equivalent to US$162 million) worth of shares in open-joint-stock company (OJSC) NBO Roghun have been sold in the country to this day.

The head of state demanded at the meeting that relevant organizations should inform the population of the process of selling shares in Roghun every ten days.

President Rahmon also ordered to set up a special commission to control realization of funds gained from sale of Roghun shares.  The commission members should include representatives from the country’s NGOs and media.

We will recall that the government started to sell Roghun shares to people to raise funds to complete construction of the Roghun HPP on January 6 this year.
