DUSHANBE, December 30, 2009, Asia-Plus — Tajik farmers have reached 90 percent of the winter crop sowing target, having planted winter grains on an area of more than 189,000 hectares to this day, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
Tajikistan allocated 200,000 hectares for winter grains this year; of this, some 172,000 hectares were allocated for winter wheat.
In the territorial cross section the proportions of winter-crop-sown areas were: Gorno Badakhshan – 101.5 percent; Sughd province – 101 percent; and Khatlon province – 97 percent. The source at a MoA has not given information on winter-crop-sown areas in districts subordinate to the center (RRPs).
In all, 463,000 hectares of lands were allocated for grains this year and Tajikistan has produced 1.26 million tons of grains this year.
