The mission of observers of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States started its activities to monitor the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

The Central Election Commission hosted a meeting with the head of the mission, first deputy chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Garkun.

The head of the commission Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov informed the CIS observers about the preparation to the elections, which will be held on 27 December.

The election campaign is being held in full compliance with national election legislation and international standards, he said.

“The mission of observers from the CIS Executive Committee includes 84 observers. It will work in all regions of the country based on the experience of 50 observations of the elections in various countries,” Garkun said.

“Our activity is based solely on the data received during the monitoring process. The mission will present its concluding statement on the day following the election date.”
