Press release by the Chinese Language Workshop

The Chinese Language Workshop of the Tajik-Chinese Mining Company organized a fun event dedicated to the Chinese language in honor of the United Nations International Chinese Language Day, which is celebrated annually on April 20th.

The event was organized to present the Chinese language and culture, as well as to create a platform for exchange and interaction between China and Tajikistan.

The participants of the event included students with different levels of Chinese language proficiency: beginner level (small groups for beginners), basic level, HSK1 groups, and advanced level HSK2. For each group of students, a separate atmosphere and formats for active interaction were created.

For example, students in the beginner groups colored characters, sang songs, and performed tasks in the format “look at the picture — name the word.” In the basic groups, there were games like “guess the word” and small skits with dialogues, which helped to reinforce everyday communication vocabulary and situational expressions.

In HSK1 and HSK2 groups, tasks included matching pinyin with characters, selecting measure words, filling in blanks in sentences, composing characters, as well as listening comprehension and quiz-style responses.

The combination of written exercises and game elements helped strengthen knowledge for the exam and improve test-taking skills. In advanced groups, there were bilingual (Chinese-Russian) quizzes, character composition by radicals, “say the opposite” exercises, professional vocabulary translation, and other tasks aimed at comprehensive skill development.

Participants confidently spoke in Chinese, wrote characters, and expressed their thoughts in a relaxed atmosphere, vividly demonstrating their motivation and confidence in learning the Chinese language. The event significantly improved practical Chinese language skills and contributed to strengthening cultural exchange and emotional understanding between them.

As the first of the Chinese Language Workshops in Central Asia, the language center of the Tajik-Chinese Mining Company has consistently aimed to promote the coordinated development of international Chinese language teaching and professional education since its inception.

In the future, the Chinese Language Workshop will continue to organize various cultural activities, using language as a bridge and culture as a means of interaction. By improving the language proficiency and professional skills of Tajik students, the center will contribute to the development of friendly cooperation between China and Tajikistan, deepening the study of the Chinese language and spreading Chinese culture.
