DUSHANBE, November 26, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Open joint-stock company, Agroinvestbonk, which is he second largest commercial bank in Tajikistan, intends to launch re-branding campaign in the near future in connection with acquisition by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) of shares in Agroinvestbonk, according to Agroinvestbonk’s head office in Dushanbe.

The bank administration notes that they were going to change the name before as well because Agroinvestbonk is wrongly associated with the bank that serves only farmers and customers in the rural areas.

According to the source, it is not ruled out the EBRD name can also be represented in the new name of Agroinvestbonk.

He stressed that under the operating license, Agroinvestbonk was a non-governmental universal bank offering a broad range banking services both to all categories of the population of the country and non-residents.  “It means that the bank’s activity is not limited only with crediting the agrarian sector, it offers banking services to all sectors of the economy,” said the source, “Besides, it will participate in international projects and offer services to customers irrespective of their citizenship and forms of property.”

We will recall that the EBRD acquired shares in Agroinvestbonk for 50 million somoni that has strengthened the capital base of Agroinvestbonk and supports its growth and further development. This also enables the bank to increase its provision of loans to local enterprises.

Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and 61 other branches across the republic.
