DUSHANBE, November 26, 2009, Asia-Plus — Education spending in the country’s budget for 2010 has decreased by 4 percent and amounts to 1.068 billion somoni, Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, it is connected with completion of two large education projects that have been implemented under financial support of the World Bank (education modernization) and the Asian Development Bank (education reforms).
“Despite this, we have to resolve existing problems and take measures to avoid financing problems in the future,” the minister said.
The budget for 2009 earmarked 1.4 billion somoni for the education sector.
