QURGHON TEPPA, November 25, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The branch of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Agroinvestbonk (one of Tajikistan’s largest commercial banks) in Khatlon’s Qumsangir district has filed suit in the Khatlon regional economic court against seven incorrigible debt non-payers for total mount of 281,965 somoni.

According to Dodarbek Qurbonov, the head of Agroinvestbonk’s branch in Qumsangir, the most incorrigible debt non-payer is the Qumsangir mini plant for producing alcohol drinks.  “The plant received a 200,000 somoni loan from the bank and has not yet repaid it,” said Qurbonov, “By a ruling handed down by the Khatlon regional economic court the plant was put up to auction.  Two auctions have been held; however, no one has yet purchase it.”

“We now want the plant to be handed over to jurisdiction of the bank and the case is currently under consideration,” Qurbonov added.

Current loan portfolio of Agroinvestbonk’s branch in Qumsangir amounts to 1,323,423 somoni; of that amount, 596,900 somoni has been allocated to the agrarian sector.  “The agrarian sector accounts for a major of overdue loans,” Qurbonov said.
