The delivery of new Boeing-737 MAX 8 aircraft to Tajikistan is expected in July-August this year. Tajikistan’s air carrier Somon Air has reportedly discussed the preparation for the commissioning of new aircraft with representatives of Boeing.
According to Somon Air’s press service, the meeting between the management of Somon Air and the Boeing delegation took place on May 15.
The parties reprotedly discussed key issues related to the operation of new aircraft, as well as measures to improve the airline’s operational efficiency in accordance with international standards.
Somon Air noted that expanding the fleet with modern aircraft will enhance passenger service quality, increase the route network, and strengthen the airline’s position in the regional civil aviation market.
Previously, Boeing and Somon Air announced that the national carrier of Tajikistan decided to place the largest order in its history, choosing up to 14 economical aircraft 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX.
At that time, “Somon Air” operated six Boeing-737 Next-Generation aircraft and conducted flights from Tajikistan to 25 destinations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. According to the agreement reached, the airline planned to place its first-ever order for wide-body aircraft 787-9 to expand its international route network, as well as up to 10 narrow-body 737-8 aircraft to modernize its fleet, which consisted entirely of Boeing-737 family aircraft.
