DUSHANBE, October 28, 2009, Asia-Plus — Russian Center of Russia’s Russkiy Mir (Russian World) National Foundation at Russia-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) in Dushanbe will host a scientific-practical conference entitled “Russian Language and Literature in CIS” on October 29-30.
According to the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe, the conference participants include representatives from RTSU administration, Russian diplomatic mission, President’s Executive Office, the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan, the CIS Secretariat and teachers from a number of Dushanbe-based universities.
The conference aims to discuss issues related to theoretical and practical tasks of Russian linguistics, modern linguistic-didactic problems in general and higher education.
Participants at the conference will also consider the subjects such as Russian literature and culture in the CIS states and functioning of the Russian language in state-run and independent media within the CIS area.
The Russian Center was officially opened at RTSU on September 18, 2008. The Russkiy Mir National Foundation started implementation of the project for creating a network of Russian centers that are aimed at preserving and popularizing Russian language and Russian culture in other countries in 2008 and the first Russian center was opened in Yerevan, Armenia.
To date, Russian centers have been opened Yerevan, Dushanbe, Kant and Osh in Kyrgyzstan, Astana and Ust-Kamenogorsk in Kazakhstan. Besides, the have reached agreements on opening the Russian centers in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Italy, Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Guatemala, Hungary, Indonesia and some other countries.
