The source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) told Asia-Plus today that the treasurer of the mentioned department jointly with four employees of the department embezzled more than 831,000 somoni (equivalent to more than 190,000 U.S. dollars) in 2007-2008.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the corrupt employees and an investigation is under way.
