KULOB, October 15, 2009, Asia-Plus — 936 new cases of tuberculosis have been detected in Khatlon’s Kulob zone over the first nine months of this year, which is 220 cases more than in the same period of last year, according to the Kulob Center for Sanitary and Epidemiologic Supervision.

The TB rate is 94.8 per 100,000 people.  “A certain decrease has been reported only the city and the district of Kulob — from 231 cases in January-September 2008 to 217, while in other nine districts of the area, the number of TB cases has increased,” said the source.

According to him, the most serious tuberculosis situation has been reported in Vose, where 244 new TB cases has been detected, Hamadoni – 156 new cases, Farkhor – 86 and Muminobod – 47.

TB cases have increased in the mountain districts of Khovaling and Baljuvon as well.  Over the report period, 36 new TB cases have been detected in Khovaling and 10 new TB cases have been detected in Khovaling, the source said.
