KULOB, October 15, 2009, Asia-Plus — Kulob Head Sanitary Physician Said Davlatov has denied report about the cholera outbreak in southern Tajikistan, posted on the site Centrasia.ru, as “absolutely unfounded”.
An article by Amirqul Safarov entitled “the Cholera Outbreak in Southern Tajikistan,” posted on Centralasia.ru on October 13, says that more than 10 people allegedly diagnosed with cholera were hospitalized in the city of Kulob in July-August this year and three of them died.
In a report released at a news conference in Kulob, Davlatov noted that on October 14 that no case of cholera has been registered in the region this year.
According to him, six cases of hemorrhagic fever were registered in Khatlon’s Kulob zone last summer without fatal outcome.
