DUSHANBE, October 12, 2009, Asia-Plus — In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Mirzo Abdulloyev, an official with the Customs Service, revealed on October 12 that 3,759 customs infringements have been reported in the country over the first nine months of this year, which is 51 cases more than in the same period of last year.
According to him, most part of these cases (3,719) are administrative customs infringements and infringers have been fined a total of 2.9 million somoni (including confiscation of illegally delivered commodities), which is 992.644 somoni more than in the same period of last year.
Over the same nine-month period, customs officers have seized 112 kilograms of narcotics, the customs official said.
