KHUJAND, September 24, 2009, Asia-Plus  — An international two-day conference entitled “Migration Bridge between Central Asia and Russia: Modellling and Efficiently Managing Migration Flows” will open at Tajik State University of Law, Business and Politics in Khujand tomorrow.

Organized by the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan, Tajik State University of Law, Business and Politics and the Institute of Social Demography and Economic Sociology at the Russian Academy of Sciences, the conference is expected to bring together researchers from Tajikistan’s Institute of Oriental Studies, Russia’s Institute for Social and Political, Moscow State University, etc.

The event is aiming to consider issues of migration from Central Asia’s states to Russia and its consequences.

The conference participants will also consider the present demographic situation in Tajikistan, its features and prospects, as well as state of labor migrants from Central Asia in Russia, post-conflict processes and migration problems.

The conference will also discuss the main ways of improvement of the employment situation in Tajikistan, role of labor migrants in the country’s economy, etc.
