KHUJAND, September 23, 2009, Asia-Plus — Officers from the Sughd security directorate have arrested the resident of the northern city of Chkalovsk Qurbonali Tabarov, who was pretending to be a high-ranking law enforcement officer.
The source at the Sughd security directorate said that their officers had found the uniform of a colonel-general of army in the fraud’s apartment in Chkalovsk.
“The preliminary investigation has established that Tabarov had never served in the army,” said the source, “”He had been wearing the uniform during various holidays political events.” According to him, Tabarov had lived for a long time in Uzbekistan.
“When searching Tabarov’s apartment, the security officers found several counterfeit documents noting that he allegedly has a title of the Hero of the Soviet Union and is the chief of the Interpol Office for Central Asia and Eurasia,” said the source. “Using these documents, he had illegally crossed the Tajik-Uzbek border several times.”
Besides, representing himself as the Colonel General of the State Committee for National Committee of Tajikistan, Tabarov was taking bribes from ordinary people.
