DUSHANBE, January 30, Asia-Plus  — Experts from member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) have gathered in Moscow today for meeting to discuss issues related to countering illegal migration under conditions of the ongoing global economic crisis and providing social-labor rights of migrant workers, according to press release issued by the CSTO Secretariat.

Heads of bodies for migration policy and countering illegal migration, representatives of Security Councils as well as profile committees of national parliaments from member nations of the CSTO and EAEC gathered in Moscow to discuss tasks of competent bodies of the two organizations on countering illegal migration under conditions of the global economic crisis and providing social and labor rights of migrant workers, press release said.

According the CSTO Secretariat, under conditions of globalization in the 21st century illegal migration has become one of the main modern challenges.  Illegal migration poses threat not only on its own account.  It is closely connected with such forms of trans-border crime as international terrorism, trafficking in human beings, weapons and narcotics.  Taking into account expected economic decline, experts suppose that not a few number of legal labor migrants, losing jobs and not wanting to return their countries, may join ranks of illegal migrants.  These processes may negatively impact public order and aggravate social and political situation.
