DUSHANBE, June 26, 2009 Asia-Plus  — A roundtable meeting to discuss the situation of children with limited opportunities in Khatlon’s Vose district was held in Dushanbe on June 25.

Organized by Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) in partnership with the Hilfswerk Austria Mission in Tajikistan, the meeting was held in the framework of the Integration Program for Development of Modern Model of Rendering Social Services in Tajikistan, which is funded  the European Commission, the source at RCS said.

The meeting participants included Vose administrators, heads of village communities, representatives of the Vose medical facilities as well as a number of international organizations and local NGOs active in Khatlon’s Kulob region.

A survey to reveal children with limited opportunities was presented during the meeting.

According to the RCS project coordinator Soleh Sharipov, 1,233 disabled children have been registered in the Vose district to this date.

The Hilfswerk Austria Mission in Tajikistan has established a day-care center for children with limited opportunities, Sitora, in the Vose district.  The center is provided with modern rehabilitation equipment.  Specialists working with center took special training courses organized by Austrian and Moldavian specialists, the source said.
