KHUJAND/DUSHANBE, June 24, 2009, Asia-Plus — Working visit of President Emomali Rahmon to the northern Sughd province is continuing,

Today, the president is visiting the Ghonchi district, where he has attended a ceremony of reopening of renovated school # 20 in the village of Itorchi.

Construction of the school to accommodate 694 pupils began in 1986 but because of financial problems the construction work was suspended in 1991.  Later, 22 classes were built by the traditional mechanism of hashar (voluntary work for the benefit of community).  In May 2008, major repairs were made to the school due to 1.36 million somoni provided by the Catalyst Fund.

Today, President is also expected to visit the Yakhtob jamoat in Ghonchi to get acquainted with the pace of construction of the power transmission line South-North.

In Ghonchi, Rahmon will also visit the farming unit Govchi-Ghonchi.
