DUSHANBE, May 25, 2009, Asia-Plus  — International seminal entitled “Independent Monitoring of Detention Facilities: Tajikistan and Experience of Other Countries” will be held in Dushanbe on May 26-27.

The seminar is aiming to consider issues related to establishment of the national institution on human rights, access to justice and the Facultative Protocol of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman, or Degrading Treatments or Punishments.

The event is organized by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan in cooperation with the Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT), UNHCR CO in Tajikistan, UK Department for International Development (DFID), Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan) and Tajik President’s Executive Office and Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law (BHR).
