President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with chairman of the Korean Air Yang-Ho Cho on 23 April at Oqsaroy residence in Tashkent.

The head of the state said economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea was expanding. One area of cooperation is creation of the free industrial zone in the area of the Navoi international airport.

The head of Korean Air Yang-Ho Cho said his company was ready for active participation in the international investment projects in Uzbekistan.

The sides exchanged opinion on the implementation of joint projects and development of new ones.

The Korean Air is participating in the creation of the transcontinental inter-modal logistics center at Navoi airport, which will be the only of such kind in the CIS.

On 20 April, the first cargo plane A 300-600F leased by Korean Air arrived in Tashkent. Uzbekistan Airways will receive another such plane on the same conditions. Both planes will operate at the logistics center.

The businessmen of South Korea are going to take an active part in the creation of the economic zone in Navoi. In March, agreements were reached in Seoul on 35 investment projects worth a total of over US$ 500 million.
