Tajikistan increases egg production

DUSHANBE, July 19, 2011, Asia-Plus — Over the first six months of this year, poultry farms of Tajikistan have produced some 80 million eggs, which is 15 million pieces more than in the same period last year, Mashokir Nazarov, director of the state unitary enterprise, Parrvandaparvar (Poultry-Keeping), said.

“23 poultry enterprises with a total of some 1.5 million head of poultry now operate in the country,” Nazarov said, noting that annual average per capita requirements of the country’s population in chicken meat and chicken products are 6 kilograms of chicken meat and 220 eggs.

Tajikistan adopted the national poultry keeping development program in 2006.  Designed for 2007-2015, the program is dedicated to promote improvement of manufacturing capabilities of the poultry factories, opportune provision of domestic markets with local products of high quality and development of the sector’s export potential, Nazarov said.
