DUSHANBE, August 25, 2011, Asia-Plus – Tajik power-welding and law enforcement structures have been put on alert in connection with the upcoming political events and the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, which is marked on September 9, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

They will be on alert beginning on August 25 and through September 10, the source at a MoI said.

We will recall that Dushanbe will host a quadripartite meeting of the presidents of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Russia and a CIS foreign ministers’ meeting on September 2, and a CIS summit on September 2-3.  Besides, Iranian president will pay a working visit to Tajikistan on September 4 and celebrations to mark Tajikistan’s Independence will take place on September 9.

Police patrols will be reinforced in Dushanbe and additional security measures will be taken in the provinces as well, the source added.
