KHUJAND, September 7, 2011, Asia-Plus — An entrepreneur from Dushanbe, Hakim Ahmadov, has got a long jail term for selling counterfeit medicines.

Mirzorustam Ghafourov, the head of the Sughd’s branch of the Directorate for Supervision of Pharmaceutical Activities, says inspection by the prosecutor’s office in Bobojonghafourov district of local drugstores has revealed that the medicine “duphaston” delivered to drugstores in Bobojonghafourov by Hakim Ahmadov is counterfeit.

“Examination has shown that pills contained only excipient,” said Ghafourov.  “It has turned out that the medicine was produced in a backstreet workshop in one of provinces of China.”

The Chkalovsk city court sentenced Hakim Ahmadov to ten years in prison.  The sentence followed his conviction on charges of fraud and consumer fraud.
