DUSHANBE, January 11, 2012, Asia-Plus  — An investigation into murder of 24-year-old Parviz Davlatbekov is nearing completion and the case will move to a court in the near future, an official source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon.

According to him, one of suspects — the 16-year-old teenager B.Sh. — has confessed to inflicting two stab wounds on a man dressed as Father Frost.

“Three other persons, including the third-year student from Tajik National University Sharaf Davlatov, Farrukh Samiyev and Firouz Narzulloyev, were also arrested on suspicion of having been involved in that crime,” said the source.  “The charge of intentional infliction of serious bodily injury entailing death was officially brought against the suspects and all of them, except the minor, were taken under custody.”

We will recall that 24-year-old resident of Dushanbe, Parviz Davlatbekov, dressed as Father Frost was stabbed to death on the night of December 31.

Parviz’s relatives say he was attacked for dressing as Father Frost to attend “un-Islamic” New Year celebrations.  According to them, a group of young men attacked him and inflicted multiple stab wounds on him.

Meanwhile the law enforcement authorities and three friends of Parviz Davlatbekov who accompanied him on that day rejected speculation that Parviz was attacked for dressing as Father Frost.

Verbal stoushes between Parviz and a group of drunken young men came to a fight and somebody stabbed Parviz with knife, one of Parviz’s friends said.  The victim’s friends also say there were some 25-30 attackers.
