Multiple mudflows, hail which occurred in second and third decade of April 2012 caused severe damage to a total of 2.383ha of cropland in 10 regions of Kulob region of Khatlon province.

According to the Kulob regional department of agriculture, 1.233ha of crops and 868ha of cotton have been totally washed away. Farms will have to find funds to for replanting campaign.

According to the source, most severe damage was caused to Dangara region where 965ha out of 1.233ha of crops were washed away.

“Hamadoni household of Kulob region suffered most severe damage as compared to other big households. The household will need to replant 50% of all crops out of 1000ha,” the source said, adding that this agrotechnical operation will cost minimum 700.000 Somoni and households are unable to find this amount of funds.
