DUSHANBE, June 22, 2012, Asia-Plus — On the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has held a number of bilateral meetings in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the president’s official website reports.
On June 21, Rahmon held talks with his Hungarian counterpart Janos Ader. The two reportedly discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between their countries n various fields.
Emomali Rahmon invited Janos Ader to pay visit to Tajikistan at any convenient time.
On the same day, Tajik leader met with Ms. Rachel Kyte, Vice President of Sustainable Development at the World Bank.
The two reportedly considered a number of issues related to completion of the techno-economic assessment study and the environmental and social impact assessment study for the Roghun hydroelectric power project (HPP). Rahmon and Kyte also discussed the Central Asia South Asia Regional Electricity Trade Project (CASA 1000), the source said.
President Rahmon also met with Ms. Irina Bokova, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), last Thursday. Issues related to preservation of cultural heritage of the Tajik people were a major topic of the meeting, the president’s official website said.
