DUSHANBE, November 7, 2008, Asia-Plus  — On November 5, President Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of congratulations to Barack Obama on his election as the new President of the United States, presidential press service said.  

In his message, President Rahmon, in particular, noted that Tajikistan attaches important significance to close partnership with the United States covering different spheres and is interested in sustainable and dynamical expansion of them.  

“We are ready to strengthen and expand Tajik-US cooperation in the name of high principles of peace, stability and progress,” the message said.

Rahmon also expressed confidence that the close multi-aspect cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States would expand on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
