DUSHANBE, October 17, 2012, Asia-Plus  — A group of officers from the General Staff of Tajikistan’s Armed Forces, led by Colonel Tohir Khairulloyev, the chief of Staff of the Mobile troops of the Ministry of Defense (MoD), is participating in a joint drill for peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) that is being conducted at Kazakhstan’s Iliyskiy, Shoshkala, and Bereg training grounds, Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for the Tajik Ministry of Defense, said.

The war games, dubbed “Indestructible Brotherhood 2012,” kicked off on October 8 and are concluding today.

The main purpose of the exercise is to rehearse coordination and interaction in missions connected with separating conflicting sides, providing observance of terms of cease-fire regime, convoying humanitarian cargo and repulsing terrorist attacks on convoys.

The exercise participants have also shared their experiences in preventing illegal delivery of materiel, weapons and explosives to a zone of conflict, guarding vital facilities, and preventing mass disorders, the source stressed.

Russia’s Itar-Tass quoted Colonel Nikolay Donyushkin from Russia’s Armed forces as saying that the war games have involved 950 personnel from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan as well as armored vehicles and combat helicopters.  

We will recall that a joint military exercises for the CSTO forces were conducted at the Marshal Baghramian training ground in Armenia from September 15 to September 19.  The war games, involved about 2,000 troops from six CSTO countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
