DUSHANBE, February 20, Asia-Plus – For the purpose of developing the education sector, raising status of teacher and stimulating labor of teachers Tajik President on February 18 signed an edict establishing Tajik President’s Award for excellence in education, presidential press service reported.   

Abdufattoh Sharipov, a spokesman for the president, has told Asia-Plus that beginning from this year based on the established Committee submissions and recommendations, recipients will be selected for the President’s Award for their significant contributions in the area of education.  

Five best teachers will annually receive US$2,000 in prize money each, according to him.  

The Ministry of Finance is to provide funds for this purpose.  This year, money will be provided from the president’s reserve fund, while in future, these funds will be stipulated in the country’s budget.   

“The Government of Tajikistan is to set up within two months the Committing on giving the Award and work out and approve regulations and procedure of handing over the Award,” presidential spokesman concluded.
