Dushanbe


on March 17.   

The news conference was given on the results of a two-week visit of the IMF mission to the republic.  During its stay in


Tajikistan


the mission carried out negotiations with the Tajik government on a new three-year economic program.  

“This agreement is the preliminary one and it should approved by our leadership,” said Mr. Pinerua, “An after that it will be submitted the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund”

noted that the program covered a broad range of measures of economic policy.  

Asked about assessment of rates of inflations in


Tajikistan


, Carlos Pinerua noted that inflation events they had monitored over the first two months of the year had regional character.

“Taking into account increase in inflation rate in Kazakhstan and Russia, where its is very high, a few could be done for countering regional inflation,” said Mr. Pinerua, “We hope that with support of the government the agrarian sector of Tajikistan will derive benefit from this because there will be an additional incentive for production of the goods (for example, rice, onions) whose prices rose considerably lately.”
