DUSHANBE, April 17, Asia-Plus – In January-March 2006 3,169 crimes have been reported in Tajikistan, which is one percent fewer compared to the same period of last year, Interior Minister Khumdin Sharipov told journalists on April 17.  

During the news conference it was noted that compared to the first quarter of 1005 a crime detection rate has increased by 31.6 percent and amounted to 71.4 percent.  

At the same time, despite preventive measures, the number of reported crimes involving minors has increased in January-March this year by 10.9 percent compared to the same period of 2005.  

The minister also noted that students at higher educational institutions of the republic had amounted to some 20 percent of grave crimes reported over the first quarter of the year.  

During the news conference it was also noted that 825 kilograms of drugs, with some 455 kilograms of them being heroin, had been seized in
