DUSHANBE, March 13, Asia-Plus – Taekwondo players from Dushanbe won 21 gold, 23 silver and 10 bronze medals in the 14th republican taekwondo championships in Dushanbe on March 10-11.
Athletes from districts subordinate to the center (RRP) won two silver and four bronze medals, taekwondo payers from Gorno Badakhshan – 1 silver and three bronze medals, sportsmen from Khatlon – six bronze medals and athletes from Sughd won only one bronze medal.
In all, 220 sportsmen took part in the 14th republican championships in Dushanbe. The general sponsor of the championships was the Dushanbe company Telecom Technology.
Mirsaid Yahyoyev, the President of Tajikistan’s Taekwondo ITF Federation, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the Sayfiddinov brothers Daler and Dilshod, Dilshod Tyuryayev, Rustam Ulmasov, Daler Sharifi, Shahlo Abdurahimova, Zarrina Ikromova and Dilafrouz Bohirova will represent Tajikistan in the World Taekwondo Championships that will be held in Slovenia from April 23-30. Another one athlete for participation in the upcoming World Taekwondo Championships will be selected at a meeting of the coaches’ council, according to Yahyoyev.
We will recall that Tajik taekwondo players have usually showed good results in various international tournaments.
The International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) was founded by Major-General Choi Hong Hi in 1966. It is one the two major international Taekwon-Do organizations, the other being the public Olympic International Federation called World Taekwondo Federation or WTF.
