DUSHANBE, June 25, Asia-Plus – Of 70 workers hospitalized in the Moscow region last Thursday with symptoms of food poisoning, only 10 are Tajik nationals, Muhammad Egamzod, a spokesman for the Tajik Embassy in Moscow said. 

“On Friday June 22, Tohir Ahmadov, the head of the consular department of Tajik Embassy in Moscow, visited the city of Solnechnogorsk in the Moscow region to learn about Tajik nationals hospitalized with symptoms of food poisoning,” Egamzod said in an interview with Asia-Plus. 

“The consular found out that that in all, some 70 workers were hospitalized Thursday night with symptoms of food poisoning; of them, only 10 are Tajik nationals, while others are residents of various Russian regions that came to the Moscow region seeking better employment opportunities,” said Egamzod, “All victims were taken to hospitals in the city of Solnechnogorsk and neighboring district of Khimki.” 

Mr. Ahmadov could not meet with the hospitalized Tajiks because quarantine restrictions had been introduced in the hospital.  According to him, Tajik citizens are currently in not bad condition.

During his stay in the Moscow region, Tajik consular also held a series of meetings with representatives of local authorities and Zandan Akram, senior representatives from Turkish company Emmar, with which Tajik citizens were working, Egamzod said.  

We will recall that Russia’s Interfax reported that 41 Tajik labor migrants working on the site for the terminal Sheremetyevo-3 airport in the Moscow regional were hospitalized Thursday night with symptoms of food poisoning.  The cause of the food poisoning is under investigation.
