DUSHANBE, July 9, Asia-Plus — Tajik government considered issues of a progress of implementation of investment projects, preparations for the winter and rehabilitation of industrial enterprises at a July 7 meeting presided over by President Emomali Rahmon. 

The meeting participants also included senior representatives from president’s executive office, presidential press service said.

According to presidential pres service, the meeting heard reports of Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov, Energy and Industries Minister Sherali Gulov, and Bargi Tojik Power Holding Chairman Sharifkhon Samiyev on the mentioned issues.    

The meeting focused on construction of the Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 stations, the Shagon-Zighar section of the road Kulob-Darvoz, other roads and bridges, as well as development of new lands.  

President Rahmon noted that the work on completing the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station (HPS) on the Vakhsh River should start before the end of this year.  Tajikistan will start work with use of national funds.  The president ordered to send to the Roghun site all skilled and experienced specialists.  

The meeting also considered issues related to preparations for the winter.   During the meeting, it was noted that 160 shops for realization of coals have been established across the country since the beginning of the year.  Over the first six months of the year, Tajikistan has produced coals 18,000 tons more than in the same time of 2006 and delivered 9,000 tons of liquefied gas.  The country plans to have delivered up to 30,000 tons of fuel oil by the end of August.  

The head of state pointed to the necessity of taking adequate measures to ensure the regular work of the country”s economy during autumn-winter 2007-2008.  A special attention was paid to the issue of providing educational medical and other social facilities with coal.  

The meeting also summed up Tajikistan’s economic results in January-June 2007.
