DUSHANBE, August 2, Asia-Plus — South Africa’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Bekizizve Uizd Jila presented credentials to President Emomali Rahmon on August 2. 

Following the credentials-presenting ceremony, the two discussed issues related to expansion of relations between Tajikistan and South Africa.  

After a meeting with Tajik president, Jila told journalists that in the course of the talks they had underlined the importance of political cooperation between the two countries. 

“We agreed to expand the political cooperation in future as well, “ said South African ambassador, “To provide further expansion of political cooperation expand we spoke for holding of consultations  between the foreign ministries of our countries and then talks at the highest level.” 

“In the course of the talks, we also pointed out an important role of the United Nations in respecting international law,” said Ambassador Jila, “We also underlined the importance of regional and Afro-Asian cooperation in addressing modern challenges and threats and expressed readiness to cooperate in the struggle against terrorism, organized crime and drug trafficking.”  

On the trade and economic cooperation, the ambassador noted that the present state of trade and economic relations between the two countries was at improper level and there was considerable room for expansion of economic ties.  He also pointed to the necessity of expanding scientific-technical cooperation.  

            Asked about the possibility of establishment of cooperation between the two countries in the field of mining, the diplomat said that there is an intention to discuss this issue at a joint business forum in Dushanbe.  “As far as development of tourism and relevant industries is concerned, at first, we ought to organize exchange of information,” Ambassador Jila said.
