DUSHANBE, August 29, Asia-Plus — A meeting of university chancellors was held at the Institute of Business and Service in Dushanbe on August 28 to discuss issues related to preparedness of higher educational institutions for the new academic year.  

Senior representatives from the Ministry of Education (MoE) also took part the meeting.  Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov inaugurating the meeting hailed the level of preparedness of the Institute of Business and Service for the new academic year. 

The minister noted that the institute had spent nearly 1.5 million somonis for repairing and constructing work. 

The Institute chancellor Zokir Vazirov noted that those 1.5 million somonis had been spent to repair 80 classes, construct 20 new classes that had been provided with all necessary equipment.  

Rahmonov said the ministry’s board had decided to hold the meeting at the Institute of Business and Service in order to show chancellors of other higher educational institutions how the instituted had improved over the last years.  

Zokir Vazirov noted that the Institute’s annual income amounts some 3 million somonis and the Institute now has 4,000 students.   

In the meantime, Tajik higher educational institutions have accepted more than 29,000 students this year.  10,500 of them will study in the federally funded groups while the remaining 19,000 students will study on contractual basis.
