DUSHANBE, November 19, Asia-Plus  – In January-October 2007, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electric energy and natural gas, has amounted to $3.163995 billion, which is 126.7 percent of the January-October 2006 level or $666.5 million more than in the same period of last year, the State Committee for Statistics said.  

The trade balance was negative and amounted to $729 million.

Exports of goods over the first ten months of this year have amounted to $1.2175 million, which is 7.1 percent or $80.7 million more than in January-October 2006.  Imports of goods into the country over the report period have amounted to $1.9464 billion,, which is 43.1 percent or $585.8 million more than in the same period of last year. 

The CIS states accounted for 44 percent ($1.391 billion) of Tajikistan’s external trade turnover for January-October 2007.  The balance in trade with the CIS states was negative and amounted to $1.0237 billion. 

The far abroad countries accounted for 56 percent ($1.7729 billion) of the country’s external trade turnover and the trade balance was positive and amounted to $294.7 million.

Over the same ten-month period, Tajikistan has imported 470.8 million cubic meters of natural gas for $47.1 million.  

A share of electrical power in the country’s external trade turnover over the report period has accounted for 3.4 percent.  In January-October 2007, Tajikistan has exported 3.7927 kWh of electricity for $52.6 million.  Over the same ten-month period the country has imported 3.7498 kWh for $55.6 million.      

A share of cotton fiber in Tajikistan’s exports accounted for 8 percent.  In January-October 2007, Tajikistan has exported 87,500 tons of cotton fiber for $97.6 million.
