DUSHANBE, December 5, Asia-Plus — Tajik President had audience with Emperor Akihito in Tokyo today morning, presidential press service said.  

During the meeting, President Rahmon noted that holding of the First Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Beppu was evidence of the fact that the Government of Japan paid a special attention to the global water problem.   

The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan and Emperor Akihito expressed confidence that President Rahmon’s visit to Japan would give a new impulse to development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.   

President Rahmon expressed gratitude to Emperor of Japan for his country’s support for many important projects in Tajikistan and assured that bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan would be brought to a qualitatively new level.   

In the course of the talks it was noted that using Tajikistan’s rich natural resources and heap manpower, Japanese companies could organize production of industrial goods in Tajikistan.
