DUSHANBE, March 12, Asia-Plus  — The Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev yesterday met with Turkmen Ambassador to Tajikistan Ahmed Qurbanov.

Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker for public relations, said that state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan had been major topics of the meeting.  

During the meeting, it was noted that all necessary conditions had been created to promote expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in different fields.   

Ubaidulloyev, in particular, noted that energy assistance provided by Turkmenistan during the winter months is evidence of strength of friendship between the two peoples.  

For his part, Qurbanov stated his readiness to take efforts to promote implementation of agreements reached by the heads of state of the countries to strengthen friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, Saidov said.
