DUSHANBE, April 3, Asia-Plus  — Torrential rains are expected in the country within the next few days, Mahmad Safarov, the deputy head of the hydrometeorology department within the Committee for Environmental Protection, told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon.     

According to him, the rainy weather is likely to stick in Tajikistan till April 10.

In the meantime, specialists from the hydrometeorology department are currently flying around mountain areas to measure snow cover, Safarov said.  The data will allow forecasting the water levels in rivers that will help prevent emergency situations, according to him.
