DUSHANBE, April 3, Asia-Plus  — Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), held talks with Louise Marie de Puech, Head of the European Union (EU) Parliamentary Assembly,  in St. Petersburg, Russia Thursday morning, Asia-Plus has learned from Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker for media and NGOs.  

In the course of the talks, the sides exchanged views on interaction in improving Tajikistan’s human rights legislation and creation of legal conditions for use of potentials of civic society and parliamentary institutions in the work on improving the human rights legislation.  

During the meeting, Tajik speaker pointed the necessity of development of dialogue of civilizations for ensuring peaceful and fruitful co-existence of peoples and states.  

Ubaidulloyev supported wish of Louise Marie de Puech to visit Tajikistan, noting that it would pave the way for further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union.  

For his part, Mr. de Puech expressed satisfaction with the results of the meeting with Ubaidulloyev and hailed achievements reached by Tajikistan.  He also invited Tajik speaker to visit the European Union and the Parliamentary Assembly.
