DUSHANBE, April 30, Asia-Plus  — The government considered some 50 issues at an April 29 session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, presidential press service said.  

The government endorsed a plan of measures to ensure regular work of the country’s economy during autumn-winter 2008-2009.  A special commission, comprising heads of state committees, Barqi Tojik power holding as well as chairmen of cities and districts and led by the first Deputy Prime Minister Asadullo Ghulomov, was set up to control implementation of the plan.  

During the meeting, it was noted that stocks of coal, liquefied gas and other types of fuel as well s the number of shops for realization of them should be doubled. 

The plan also provides for increasing capacities of the Dushanbe and Yovon heat and power stations to 180 megawatt and 120 megawatt respectively before October 1.  

Besides, all 14 boiler plants in Dushanbe and the city”s heat supply system should be prepared for providing the city with heat and hot water during the autumn-winter period. 

Specific tasks were also set on collecting of funds for electricity, natural gas and hot water, as well as stocking foods.    

During consideration of reports by the education projects implementation unit, it was noted that seven investment projects totaling 245 million somonis (equivalent to $71.05 million) are currently being implemented in the educations sector education projects and as of April 1, 130 million somonis have been drawn.  

The government also approved a plan for the voluntary resettlement of inhabitants of mountain regions to the plains.  The objective of the plan, which is to be implemented in 2008-2009, is to provide jobs for mountain dwellers from Gorno Badakhshan, Sughd and Khatlon provinces to the plains.  1,640 families are supposed to be voluntarily relocated to Danghara, Nosir Khusrav, Tursunzoda and Zafarobod districts.  Relevant ministries were instructed to take adequate measures to establishing settlements for families who want to resettle.        

 The session also endorsed a bill requiring amendments to the country’s law on the order of observing traditions.    

The government also approved a plan of measures to hold inflation in 2008-2009.  

By government’s resolutions the structure of the Center for Islamic Studies at the President of Tajikistan was approved as well as closed Tajik-Qatari joint-stock company Asali was launched and free economic zones (FEZs) Panji Poyon and Sughd were established.
