DUSHANBE, June 11, Asia-Plus  — Open joint-stock company (OJSC) Poyafzolduzi Khujand (leather and foot-wear enterprise) in northern Tajikistan has launched a leather-processing workshop, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI). 

The enterprise will use the processed leather for manufacturing leather goods.  The test capacity of the workshop is 500 skins per month.  

Established in 1938, OJSC Poyafzolduzi Khujand had stood idle since 1995 and resumed operation only last year.  

70 persons currently work with the enterprise.  Last year, it produced 3,000 pairs of shoes and over the first four months of this year, it has produced 700 pairs, which is ten times more than in the same period of last year.  Poyafzolduzi Khujand’s products are still realized only on the domestic market.
