DUSHANBE, June 24, 2008, Asia-Plus  – Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister, Dr. Manoucher Muhammadi, heading Iranian MFA’s delegation arrived in Dushanbe on June 21 for a five-day working visit.    

Speaking at a meeting with journalists in Dushanbe on June 24, Manouchehr Muradi, the head of the Iran MFA department for Central Asia and Caucasus, said that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had been invited to attend a summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that will be held in Dushanbe in August this year as a guest.  

According to him, during his stay in Dushanbe, the Iranian president is scheduled to hold talks with a number of high-raking Tajik state officials.    

Mr. Muradi also noted that in the course of talks that had been held in Dushanbe so far, Iranian diplomats had discussed with Tajik officials issues related to mutually beneficial cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan in sectors such as economic, culture and science.  

During a June 23 meeting, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Manoucher Muhammadi and the first Deputy Tajik Foreign Minister, Abdullo Yuldoshev, discussed regional security, including the present situation in Afghanistan, Muradi said.  “It is gratifying to know that both countries share similar stances on these problems and ways to seek solution to them,” Iranian MFA official said.
