DUSHANBE, June 26, Asia-Plus — A German expert said that implementation of the project for construction of hydro electric power plant on the Zarafshon River will not affect irrigation in Uzbekistan.
Professor Frank Schroder looked at the site for construction of the hydropower station on Zarafshon River and said that it did not threaten irrigation of neighboring Uzbekistan’s lands, Tajik BBC Radio reported.
“Besides Uzbekistan can use electric energy produced by this water power station,” noted he.
Professor Schroder and other German specialists intend to work over these projects for 4 years.
Uzbekistan uses 94% of water resources of Tajikistan. Uzbekistan earlier spoke against construction of the water power station on the Zarafshon River in Kuhistoni Mastchoh district of Sughd province.
