KHUJAND, September 2, 2008, Asia-Plus — Auto-repair shops in the Sughd province are receiving more and more orders from car owners, especially owners of fixed-route taxies (minivans), for installation of liquefied-gas tanks.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Sharifjon Qayumov, engineer-in-chief with the Khujand auto-repair plant, ARZ-4, said that they have installed such tanks on 609 vehicles since the beginning of this year, which is nearly two times more than in the same period of last year.

In accordance with requirements, worked out by the Dushanbe-based limited liability company Angora to provide safety of passengers, the liquefied-gas tank should be installed under vehicle’s floor, the engineer-in-chief said.

In Khujand, there are two enterprises licensed to install the liquefied-gas tanks on vehicles.  By Khujand administration’s order all vehicles in the city running on the liquefied gas should have the liquefied-gas tanks installed under their floors, Qayumov said.

In all, there are twelve auto-repair shops in northern Tajikistan dealing with installation of the liquefied tanks on vehicles.
