DUSHANBE, October 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Tajik national TV channel, Safina, will be reorganized into joint-stock company, the Safina director Mahmadsaid Pirov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.     

According to him appropriate changes have already been made to the channel’s charter.  “The further procedure of reorganization of the channel into the joint-stock company will be held at the Ministry of Justice,” Pirov said.  

“3 million somoni have been allocated form the national budget this year for modernization of the Safina activity,” said the director, “However, these funds are not enough for creation of really modern TV channel.”

He further added that if Safina is reorganized into the joint-stock company “it will become self-sufficient and develop dynamically.”   “This will allow improving quality of our programs and we will be able to raise wages of our employees.”
