DUSHANBE, October 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption and the UNDP CO Tajikistan singed the Project Document, State Enhancement for Improved Governance, in Dushanbe last week.

According to the UNDP program manager Alisher Karimov, the project was worked out within the framework of support provided to the Tajik Government for achievement of goals of the National Development Strategy and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).   

The project is aimed at promoting efficient state management in Tajikistan for the purpose of reducing poverty, developing human potential, protecting human rights and strengthening main functions of state, especially security institutions in the country, the program manager said. 

The project is one of the results of the UNDP Country Program for 2005-2009 on raising accountability and transparency of the public sector, strengthening management and partnership in this filed at national and international levels.

The project provides for close cooperation with main partners – anticorruption agency and a MoJ as well as other state institutions exercising law enfrocement or other judicial functions.
