DUSHANBE, December 23, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) have unanimously voted fro extending the term of validity of the law on amnesty regarding legalization of property for another six months.

A regular sitting of the fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation, presided over by its chairman, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on December 23.

Speaking at the session, Khairulloyev noted that proposal on extending the term of validity of the law had come from President Emomali Rahmon.   

The term of validity of the RT Law “On Amnesty of Citizens and Legal Entities of the Republic of Tajikistan in Connection with Legalization of Property” expires on December 31, 2008.  MPs voted for extending the term of validity of the law till July 1, 2009.    

“Extension of the property legalization term gives a unique opportunity to citizens and legal entities to legalize their properties,” the speaker said. 

The law on amnesty regarding legalization of property was adopted on May 15, 2007.  The law is aimed at involving property into economic turnover, determine property rights of actual owners, as well as promote improvement of business environment and development of entrepreneurial activity in the country.
