A delegation of Uzbektelecom, national telecommunication operator of Uzbekistan, held negotiations with a delegation of Russian long-distance and international communication operator Interregional TransitTelecom (MTT) led by its director-general Victor Bertyakov on 6 February 2009.

The sides discussed issues of perspectives of further cooperation in telecommunication, introduction of new communication services, expansion of data traffic and transit to Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic.

Uzbektelecom director-general Shukhrat Sadikov informed the Russian delegation on large-scale projects, which were realized in 2009, and priorities for 2009.

He said that the company will reconstruct several telephone stations in rural areas in Uzbekistan and provide internet access to these areas.

Victor Bertyakov, MTT chief, said that the cooperation with Uzbektelecom is fruitful and serves for development of business strategy of both operators, directed to introduction and expansion of services.
